In 2020, the 180th anniversary of the birth of Pyotr Tchaikovsky will be celebrated. On this occasion, a monument to the composer will be erected in St. Petersburg.

Competition for the creation of the monument will be announced at the end of October. It will be held in two stages. The first will begin at the end of October 2019, the second – in March 2020.
Next, the winning project will be taken to work. The monument will be installed in 2020 on Pisarev Street, opposite the Concert Hall of the Mariinsky Theater.
Pyotr Tchaikovsky is an outstanding Russian composer, author of music for masterpieces of world choreography: the ballet Swan Lake, Sleeping Beauty, The Nutcracker, the creator of the famous operas The Queen of Spades, Iolanta and others.
Pyotr Tchaikovsky lived most of his life in St. Petersburg. The composer is buried in the Necropolis of Artists of the Alexander Nevsky Lavra.
