Karen Shakhnazarov’s tape “Anna Karenina. Vronsky's Story ”(2017) opened the Russian program of the International Festival“ Cinema under the Stars in Uffizi Square ”. Films of domestic directors are shown at the festival for the first time.

The festival takes place in Florence from June 26 to August 8. The director, general director of the Mosfilm film concern Karen Shakhnazarov presented the picture of the opening of the Russian program. “It is very good that Russian paintings fall on such shows. This year we will also take part in the Venice Festival, where we will show a restored copy of Kalina Red, ”the director shared.
As the director of the Center for Film Festivals and International Programs, Tatyana Shumova, noted, the audience was very enthusiastic about the tape. “Anna Karenina. History of Vronsky ”- a free film adaptation of several works of Leo Tolstoy, including the famous novel by the writer. This is the last work of Karen Shakhnazarov, who simultaneously acted as the author of the script, director and producer of the film.
The festival’s Russian program also included the films Poisons, or The World History of Poisoning, The Incredible Adventures of Italians in Russia, the classic ballet film Spartak (1975) directed by Yuri Grigorovich with Vladimir Vasiliev and Maris Liepa.
The international festival “Cinema under the Stars in Uffizi Square” was established in 2017 in Florence on the initiative of the director of the world famous museum Eike Schmidt. The Russian program is held as part of the festival for the first time in 2019.
