Exhibitions of fashion photographers and an exposition with paintings by Soviet impressionist Fedor Zakharov, Picnic "Posters" and the Blues festival "Bridges", a lecture on hippie culture and a three-dimensional projection show at VDNKh. Moscow: exhibition “Fedor Zakharov. On the occasion of the 100th birthday

An exhibition of works by Fedor Zakharov dedicated to the centenary of the artist’s birthday has been opened in the New Tretyakov Gallery. Zakharov was called the “Soviet Impressionist,” he became known for his picturesque Crimean landscapes. He painted the views of Gurzuf, Bakhchisarai, Yalta and other cities, in the paintings he was able to colorfully convey the effects of moon and solar lighting. Visitors will see paintings from the collections of the Tretyakov Gallery and the Simferopol Art Museum: “Spring at the Port”, “In Gurzuf”, “Yalta” and other works.

Moscow: exhibition "Magic Metzner"

In the Lumiere Brothers Center for Photography, you can see the work of American photographer Sheila Metzner. In the 1960s, she became the first female photographer with whom the glossy magazine entered into a long-term contract. She was posed by film director David Lynch and actress Jeanne Moreau, and later – Uma Thurman and Mila Jovovich, Tilda Swinton and other celebrities. Metzner's works are kept at the Museum of Modern Art in New York. At the exhibition at the Lumiere Center, viewers will be presented with about a hundred shots that the photographer took over the past 50 years.

Moscow: 3D-projection show at VDNH

This year the VDNH complex celebrates its 80th anniversary. Every evening from August 1 to 4, a three-dimensional projection show will be shown here. On the arch of the Main entrance, the sculpture "Worker and Collective Farm Girl" and the Friendship of the Peoples fountain, visitors will see patterns and compositions decorated in the style of the Soviet avant-garde, a light representation of the construction of the main objects of the exhibition. Projections will also be devoted to events of the Great Patriotic War and the first space flight.

Moscow: Picnic "Posters"

On Saturday, the Kolomenskoye Museum-Reserve will host one of the largest open-air music festivals in the CIS – the Afisha Picnic. Every year it gathers hundreds of participants and thousands of lovers of modern music. This year, the British band The Cure and musicians of different directions – Pusha T, Basta, Mura Masa and other artists will perform on the Picnic stage. All day in Kolomenskoye, creative master classes and acting classes will be held. For the first time, the festival will host lectures on environmentally friendly consumption; here, it will also be possible to hand over used batteries, unnecessary wires and other items that require special disposal.

Moscow: lecture “From hippie fashion to boho chic”

The All-Russian Museum of Decorative, Applied and Folk Art hosts a series of lectures “Fashion + Art + Subculture” (“Fashion + Art + Sculpture”). This Saturday, they will talk about the hippie movement: their lifestyle, values, the music that the participants listened to, and the main trends in clothing. Listeners will also learn how hippie fashion has transformed into a modern eclectic style called boho.

St. Petersburg: exhibition “Sayarsism & Sayarsisty”

In the Marble Palace of the Russian Museum, the exhibition "Saiarsism & Saiarsists" is open. The name of this new direction in art is derived from the English words “science” and “art”, and its participants define Saiarsism as a doctrine of art space. Here, each element of the work has its own mathematical description and logical explanation, and space is built according to certain laws, for example, square outlines symbolize thoughts, round ones – feelings, and triangular ones – intuitions. In addition to the founder of the movement, Sergei Dozhd, 14 more authors presented their works at the exhibition. Among the exhibits, one can also see stereo light strips and three-dimensional images from acrylic.

St. Petersburg: exhibition "Mario Testino: Superstar"

The Erarta Museum of Modern Art exhibited works by British fashion photographer Mario Testino. He collaborated with the largest glossy magazines in the world and leading fashion houses, including Chanel, Versace and Burberry, and couturier Karl Lagerfeld called him an artist with a "boundless passion for beauty."

The exposition presents large-format works of the last 20 years. These are unusual portraits of modern celebrities – actors Brad Pitt and Jude Law, actresses Kate Winslet and Angelina Jolie, as well as supermodels – Natalia Vodianova, Naomi Campbell and Cara Delevingne.

St. Petersburg: Recycle Group installation “You have reached your destination”

On the square in front of the western facade of the Central Exhibition Hall "Manege" you can see the installation of a group of artists Recycle Group – repeated participants in the Venice Biennale of Contemporary Art. In St. Petersburg, they presented the project "You have reached your destination." One part of it is represented by an improvised city parking. Cars move here, following the erroneous or illogical instructions of satellite navigators. The virtual part can be seen using the augmented reality application in the sky above the square. There, as in reflection, guests will see a space where machines under the same conditions are controlled by artificial intelligence.

St. Petersburg: The Man of the World Festival

On Saturday, in front of the Mikhailovsky Palace of the Russian Museum, a musical-plastic performance "Symphony of the World" will be held. It will be attended by musicians, dancers and artists from different countries.

A large frame will be installed in the Oil Meadow – an imitation of a picture baguette, the main action will take place inside this frame. Actors will collect installations from rural household items, install a giant mill wheel and play unusual musical instruments. The Peace Symphony will become part of the annual Man of the World experimental travel festival, which this year will be held in three cities – Moscow, St. Petersburg and Suzdal.

St. Petersburg: the blues festival "Bridges"

On Sunday, Sevcable Port will host the annual Bridges Blues Festival. This year, musicians from different countries will perform at the festival – two-time winner of the prestigious Blues Music Award, American singer John Nemeth with his band, American blues band Rick Estrin & The Nightcats, Indian vocalist Aki Kumar, Finnish band Emilia Sisco & Helge Tallqvist Band Norwegian guitarist Daniel Eriksen will conduct a master class on playing the guitar using a special device – a slide. Russian performers will also perform at the festival – bands from Moscow and Yekaterinburg.
