Moscow will celebrate its 872th birthday on September 7 and 8. The theme of the holiday this year will be the 80th anniversary of VDNH. Concerts, performances, master classes and performances will be held on the main venues of the capital: Tverskaya and Mokhovaya Streets and Okhotny Ryad. City Day events will continue in other parts of Moscow: the Theater March is organized in the Hermitage Garden, and an evening of neoclassical music is organized in Sokolniki. City Day on Tverskaya Street
The main festive venue for City Day will be Tverskaya Street. On September 7 and 8, it and the nearby streets – Mokhovaya and Okhotny Ryad – will become pedestrian. All events will be dedicated to the 80th anniversary of VDNH. Thematic zones will be opened on Tverskaya, each of which will tell about the symbols and eras of VDNH. On the site “Birth of a Legend” one can see chrysanthemums, pyramidal poplars and cereals, which symbolize the fountains of VDNKh – “Friendship of Peoples” and “Golden Ear”. The legendary rose garden from the Exhibition will be repeated at the “Revival Program” site, where a date palm tree similar to the one that grew near the Georgian SSR pavilion in the 50s will also appear. In total, about a hundred concerts and performances and 600 creative master classes, lectures and sporting events will be held here.

City Day at VDNH
The City Day will open at VDNH, the theme of the holiday program is "VDNH: past, present, future." On September 7 and 8, master classes and quizzes, concerts and performances, educational lectures and a gastronomic festival will be held here. In the pavilion “Layout of Moscow” they will show a musical lighting show, and a mass dance lesson will be held on Industry Square. In the Center for Slavic Writing “Slovo” they will prepare an educational cycle “As we remember and remember: family, city and country in the memory space”. Participants in the lecture will consider urban folklore, cinema and music from the point of view of collective memory. A gala concert will also be held at the exhibition complex, and the first day of the celebration will end with a salute.

Festival "Theater March"
On September 7, the VII “Theater March” will be held in the Hermitage Garden, the country's largest open-air theater festival. Famous Moscow troupes will show their performances all day: The Practice Theater – the site-specific performance of Dmitry Melkkin "Les", the "Taganka Theater" – winner of the 2019 Golden Mask Run, Alice, Run, Moscow Ballet Theater ”-“ Kreutzer Sonata ”directed by Canadian choreographer Robert Binet. Especially for the “Theater March”, the actors of the “July Ensemble” prepared the play “Baal Concert”, which will acquaint the audience with German culture and the “epic theater” of Bertolt Brecht.

City Day in Zaryadye
In honor of City Day, Zaryadye will host a two-day theatrical carnival staged by the director of the Theater in the Southwest Oleg Anishchenko on September 7 and 8, and theater artist Arseniy Epelbaum will present a performance on the open stage dedicated to changes in the opera genre. Also performed by artists of the Moscow State Capella. V. Sudakova will hear songs from Soviet films and hits of the 80–90s. On September 9, virtuoso pianists Aleksey Volodin and Konstantin Lifshits will perform in Zaryadye, who will play Suite No. 2 for two pianos by Sergei Rachmaninov, music for the ballet Spring Sacred by Igor Stravinsky and compositions by composer Nikolai Metner.

Program "City Day at the All-Russian Museum of Decorative Arts"
On September 7 and 8, excursions, concerts, quests and other events are organized for guests of the Museum of Decorative, Applied and Folk Art. On a sightseeing tour they will tell about the history of the museum building and its collections of traditional and decorative and applied art of Russia of the 17th – early 19th centuries. The piano concert will be performed by pianist Evgeny Sergeyev and artists of the Moscow State Conservatory named after P.I. Tchaikovsky. At 16:00, the quest “Ostermania” will begin, during which it will be possible to walk along Moscow streets and an old noble estate and find out the secrets of its former owners.

Concert of the jazz orchestra of Peter Vostokov at the House of Music
The festive program at the Moscow International House of Music will be opened on September 7 by members of the Moscow Piper Orchestra. They will play guitar rock on bagpipes and drums. The main event of the evening will be a concert of the Big Jazz Orchestra of Peter Vostokov. He will present the exclusive program “I am walking in Moscow”: guests will hear popular compositions dedicated to the capital, as well as famous jazz numbers. A wish zone is organized in the lobby of the Svetlanov Hall, where everyone can post their message on a painting wall.

City Day concert at the Andrei Rublev Museum
September 8, the Museum named after Andrei Rublev invites you to a new tour “Around the Andronikov Monastery. Rogozhskaya Square and Rogozhskaya Yamskaya Sloboda. " After the tour, a concert of the Soda of Brass ensemble will take place. Band artists will perform compositions by famous composers of the 20th century, modern songs about Moscow, as well as soundtracks for foreign and domestic films. These and other works will sound in unusual arrangements, different musical styles and directions: from classical baroque to world hits and cover versions.

City Day in Kolomenskoye
At all sites of the Kolomenskoye Museum-Reserve, concerts, festivals, fairs and exhibitions dedicated to the City Day will be held. Here you can attend lectures on the history of the museum, master classes and craft classes. Guests of Kolomensky can take pictures in historical costumes and watch birds of prey. On September 7, songs by Soviet authors from the 50s and 70s, dedicated to the capital and compositions from popular operettas, will be performed by Moscow artists in Izmailovo and Lublino.

Holiday program for the City Day at the Victory Museum
On September 7, the Victory Museum will host a festive program. On the site of military equipment will hold master classes in drawing on the pavement "My Moscow". An “open microphone” will also work here, where museum guests can read poems about their love for the capital. Concert of neoclassical music in Sokolniki
On the evening of September 8, a concert of neoclassical music Sokolniki Piano Night will take place on the Symphonic stage in Sokolniki Park. The modern pianist, laureate of international competitions, the President’s Prize and the Moscow Government Prize Olga Ivanova will perform works by famous neoclassical composers: Ludovico Einaudi, Lee Ru Ma, Max Richter, Ennio Morricone. They created soundtracks for Hollywood films, including Black Swan, Island of the Damned, The Abominable Eight, and many others. Later, the concert will switch to the “free piano” mode, where the favorite compositions of the guests of the evening will sound.
